LePage, Democrats Trade Accusations On WGAN

SOUTH PORTLAND - Paul LePage says he wants to put the controversy about comments he made over the weekend behind him.

When asked Thursday on the WGAN Morning News about his comment to a reporter claiming Democratic staff member Arden Manning had suggested in a blog he would not make a good Governor because of his Franco-American heritage, LePage said that Manning's assertion he was a creationist led him to that conclusion.

Manning later called the WGAN Morning News and denied that he had ever written a blog post referring to Lepage's Franco-American heritage.  Manning said his only comment about LePage was on his belief that creationism should be taught in schools.
